Preamp suggestions for 5 str. Squire Dimension

I just picked up a Squire Dimension five stringer and I really like it except something is wrong with the preamp where it farts out if I pull the g string real hard.

I think I would like a better quality preamp that would allow me a passive bypass as well as tonal shaping.

I know there’s not much room in the body cavity. I’d still like to utilize the four knobs, maybe keep the volume, treble, mid, bass control format.

What do you think?

I think a John East Uni-Pre would work well. But you might find that a bit expensive for the bass it’s going in nmmmm mic
