Hey yall, so I'm interested in the Orange Bass Terror (500w), I think it's a great amp for me, I've been loving the tones that I've been hearing and the reviews on it. Im going to pair it with a Markbass 2x12 New York cab, so I'm expecting good results.
I'm also interested in a Sansamp Bass Driver V2, I borrowed the V1 from a friend a while ago and I really enjoyed it, but I did lack a mid control.
My question is would it be a good idea to have the bass driver affect my pedal chain, or should it not?
The reason I would use it is that I tend to drop tune a lot, and even with the V1 I was able to get a really good A standard tone with my Digitech drop after messing a bit with the bass driver. That was 7 semitones down from standard (which I was in) and it sounded incredible, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that I was using a drop pedal.
But I know that the Bass terror has a good preamp, so should I just stick to that instead of buying a Bass Driver?
Here is some ideas id have if I were to purchase it.
Here's the current iteration of my board (I have the bass Red Muck):
And this is what it would look like if I were to have the Bass driver after the drop, it really sounds more natural like this:
And this would be if i were to still buy it, in case anything were to happen to my amp.
The Sansamp would be at the end of my board, I'd plug all my pedals into it, and run the parallel output (which is unaffected) to my amp.
I've never really had much experience with Tube amps and I'm not sure if these would be good ideas.
