preamp vs power amp during recording

Hello everyone!
Hope you are just doing fantastic
I've a quick question for you, please.

I usually record the following way,

Bass > SansAmp Pre amp > Compressor > Focusrite Interface

However, today I was observing the following, this is a Gallien Krueger MB200



Do you guys think it is necessary a power amp before connecting to the Focusrite Interface??

Proposed chain:
Bass > SansAmp Pre amp > Effects > Compressor > GK MB200 > Focusrite Interface

Also a really really really no0b question... I'm ashamed of asking haha...

What does a Mixer do? and what is intended for??

You don't need the amp when you have the Sansamp (sans = without).

a Mixer is meant to mix different audio inputs (or video, or both) down to one output (mono, stereo, surround, etc) or group of outputs (main speakers, stage monitors, in-ear monitors, etc.

many people forego the traditional hardware mixer when making their recordings, because modern software can do a good job of it, without the extra expense

Per your thread title: If you send the power amp output from your GK (ie the speaker outputs) to your Focusrite, your Focusrite will not work for very long. If you send the GK’s DI you won’t use the power amp, which is ideal but largely unnecessary as @Tosh has pointed out.
