Preamps

I'm thinking about getting a new preamp and i was wondering what you guys would suggest.

here is my setup right now:

EBMM SR 4
into
Tuner
Patchbay

splits the signal into:

1)GK 1001RB-II into a GK 410RBH

2)the new preamp/EQ/compresser/Power amp into a GK Neo412

the 1001RB-II into the 410 is for a high punchy sound and i want the preamp to get a warm smooth low tone.

what preamp would you suggest. I'm looking for something under $1500

I just added a Sansamp RBI to my GK 1001RB-II rig. So far it has been working great. Some people have asked if there is a problem with the GK preamp to which I respond no. Adding the RBI has just given me a wider range of tones. I can have all GK, all RBI or a blended signal. The RBI itself is quite a bright sound but a bit of experimentation tones that down if you are so inclined.

while i like my RBI very much, i WOULD NOT recommend it with the MM - that is the one bass i can't get that preamp to sound good with (MM 30th anniversary). there is a harsh high end thing going on that i can't dial out. that said, the RPM, which is a bit darker, sounds very good with the MM.

Cheers,

JR
