Precision, 2EQ Ray or Bongo 5 HH

Hi all

I currently have a purchase conundrum.

I am a big EBMM fan. I currently have a SR5 HS, SR4 HH (arriving next week), SR4 H, Sterling 5HS, and Big Al 5SSS.

I also have a nice pair of Fenders, (the modern American standards) - a J and a P in 4 string format.

I am picking up a Squier Classic Vibe (P or J, depending on the order I make), and due to various factors, I have been given exceptional prices on the following, and as you can guess, I can only buy one:

1. American Standard P Bass (different colour to above). Don’t ask me why I want another haha, I just love the P bass. I’d love to have one with rounds and one with flats. If I didn’t order this, Id get the Squier CV as a P bass in Fiesta Red. But, the 2008 onwards AS P basses are superb.

2. Stingray 2EQ H in VS/Rosewood. I don’t have a 2EQ but I already have three Rays!

3. The most expensive, but still very well priced, Bongo 5 HH in the new Sky Blue.

For the life of me, I can decide. The P is significantly cheaper (and have rebate offers at the moment), but the EBMM prices are incredibly low due to a large order I made.

Put it this way, all three of them won’t be as cheap as this in early 2012, so I need to choose wisely.

Ive played countless Rays and 2EQ Stingrays, but I have zero experience on a Bongo. I have no idea what to expect apart from the HUGE tone I hear on recordings.

The EBMM Bongo is, in my opinion, the best mass-produced bass ever. Not only is a tone monster, but it's super versatile and really comfortable to play. I highly recommend it.

Without a doubt, IMO, Bongo.

Edit: Though if you're going with a two pickup model, I highly suggest looking at HS as well.

Bongo. You already have 3 Rays and don't need another. While I'm a P-bass guy, I'd get the bongo. Not only will you have a 5 string you can pick up an awesome CV P-bass as a backup.

Seems to me the Bong would complete your EBMM collection. From what I've read on this forum they sound excellent in most, if not all, settings.

I think a 2EQ Ray can wait until I have more space/money. I will have three Rays, and I do like the 3EQ, so the 2EQ can go into the 'next purchase' category.

Its Bongo VS Precision, but the AS Fender P I already have and the Squier CV P I have on order 'do' the P bass thing fine. I think after a FANTASTIC experience last night with my Ray 4 H 3EQ, it has to be the Bongo!

Pretty much 100% on that.

buy bongo, watch all your other basses gather dust. I'd get the P so you can have a more balanced collection of basses to look at while you play the others.

I would go with the Bongo! I have a Stingray Classic with the 2 band EQ and love it but I also have 2 Bongo's with one being a single H configuration and the other being a dual H configuration. With that being said, I love my Bongo's. They are my most favorite basses that I own and when it comes to my dual HH Bongo, it is the most versatile. I actually like my single H slightly better but the HH is slightly more versatile and is s total tone beast!
