So have at it all of you who are done with presents and santa!

P vs J head to head comparison

Pros, Cons, and Differences the whole 9 yards.

There are probably threads on this, however its christmas and i dont want to search and this is fun!

(plus im gassing for both but dont know which to get first)

For equalitys sake, American Standard vs American Standard, not the HWY1 or Mexicos/Squiers and such, just the basics!!

Let Chaos Ensue!!

Quick summary of those other threads (I personally have never owned either, but I recall these comments being left...)

P bass is warm and bassy, with crisp highs and that signature growl. Nothing sounds quite like a Fender P

J bass is warm and bassy, with crisp highs and that signature growl. Nothing sounds quite like a Fender J

That's about it. I'll add that there are really two differences. Granted the P pup and the J neck pup are somewhat different, but the differences are not huge, so what it comes down to is this:

1. The J has a 2nd pup which gives you more tone options, plus you can blend the two or use either individually.

2. The P has a wider neck than the J, which depending on what you like may be more or less comfortable.

You can get more detailed than that, but really that is about it.

If you like it simple, go with the P, if you like more versatility, go with the J.

Here, this is who uses the Jazz Bass:

And, uh, this is who uses the P Bass:

Pete Wentz

Your argument is invalid, I enjoy listening to Fall Out Boy much more than I do to Rush or Jaco.

I'm dead serious.
