I have this beefy sounding DeLuxe pickup set in passive mode I like a lot.
Now having some slap and not familiar with the way it sound I wonder about an active upgrade with a DeLuxe preamp that allows to keep the passive option.

This brings some questions :
1. I'm not convinced on the relevance of an inboard preamp before my Markbass preamp that already features an efficient active 4 bands eq, VLE and VPF filters, is it a real enhancement ?
2. Is the passive mode of the Fender preamp a transparent one so I'd keep my current sound ?
3. Is this preamp good sounding and worth the 90 bucks compared to competition ?
Appreciate any feedback, I fancy the old DeLuxe and I'm biased into it.
