Precision neck on a jazz?

Hey I'm about to buy a Matt freeman signature precision bass neck on eBay to put on my squier vintage modified jazz bass. Will it fit? Will it have be sanded down or modded at all to fit? Will I have any problems?

Should fit the pocket, I suppose (I would think), but it might tear a hole in the universe, lol. Aw well, my old Jazz Bass Special has a Jazz neck on a Precision body.

The only way I can play a 4 string Jazz bass is if it has a Precision neck.

Fat fingers, I guess. They "trip over themselves" when I try playing a Jazz neck.

i did. four bolts and go. but it was the 70s, and i was young and didn't know any better. they are modular construction, can't imagine it's a big deal.

What do u mean by modular construction? Did the neck fit perfectly?

I know the Classic Vibes are an exact match if you want to change them out, since I did it. But not sure about the Vintage Modified series.

i consider them to be modular because you could take the neck of one and put in on another. as opposed to gibosn stuff, which was dovetail (or whatever it is).

I've always thought the prototype neck for trying out the Jazz bass body and pickup configuration was what later became the 1 3/4 "C" or even 1 7/8 "D" nut width neck, because of the way the strings are not centered over the pole pieces of the neck pickup. They are too far inboard.
