Precision or Jazz

Shielding: The control cavity of almost every instrument made is not shielded. You basically put copper foil everywhere that it's needed in the control cavity / back of the pickguard / under bridge - then rewire to a star ground instead of a loop ground and if you did everything correctly your bass will not hum excessively!!!!!!

Well does have to be shielde by a professional or should i attempt it ??

It isn't hard if you are handy with a soldering iron and can follow directions. The following site has good articles on shielding and wiring basics: http://www.guitarnuts.com/index.php
I realize this is a guitar site, if anyone knows of a bass site like this; I imagine it would benifit all of us.

I used his article on shielding a Telecaster and had great results, but I have been around electronics and the like most of my adult life - Electrician - Electrical Lineman - Computer Tech - Network Cabeling Tech.
