Precision played by Reggae bassists

What did Family Man and Robbie play? P's or old jazz basses?
I know the bassist in Bedoein Soundclash used a Squier P. Killer Toronto band!

Both play Jazz basses, and famously so.
RS played Steinbergers (and rarely his Hofner) for a while, too, and now often plays and records with an old PRS Bass 4. I've seen him using a J more often recently than he had been for a few years.
Family Man always was and still is a Fender Jazz man, though he's been seen with a few others, like an old Yamaha. There is another thread running somewhere here about him and his Js.
I always thought of reggae when I thought of a P bass. Then the TB hivemind told me I could only play it with a J.

I always liked the P for reggae too. It helps to have the right capacitor in your tone circuit.
Are you thinking of something like a .068 so it cuts all highs and mids, or even going to a .1?
I was thinking more along the lines of a .047, or whatever the standard was for vintage P-basses. My current ~2009 MIM P has a pronounced mid-heavy honk when you dial the tone all the way down, and I wouldn't consider it right for reggae.
I haven't looked but guessing a .022. I can't believe that we've already gone OT, and no one has any more Precision playing reggae bassists to add.

Bagga Walker used a P often enough. I saw him in a documentary once with an Antigua precision as well, he mentioned it was a heavy beast but sounded great recorded.

The days of the P and the Jazz as go to instruments for reggae (in Jamaica anway) are gone. It's whatever works, so you'll see a wide range of instruments. Ibanez seems to be the popular choice now, but think of a bass and you'll see it in Jamdown..Hohner BBass, Ken Smiths, you name it...
