What did Family Man and Robbie play? P's or old jazz basses?
I know the bassist in Bedoein Soundclash used a Squier P. Killer Toronto band!
I always thought of reggae when I thought of a P bass. Then the TB hivemind told me I could only play it with a J.
I still nail reggae with a P, and with great dubbiness to boot.
I always liked the P for reggae too. It helps to have the right capacitor in your tone circuit.
Sounbwoy said:The days of the P and the Jazz as go to instruments for reggae (in Jamaica anway) are gone. It's whatever works, so you'll see a wide range of instruments. Ibanez seems to be the popular choice now, but think of a bass and you'll see it in Jamdown..Hohner BBass, Ken Smiths, you name it...
