Precision question: single coil tone vs. split coil

I have the Squier Classic Vibe 50s single coil pbass. Massive bass and sound, almost too much of everything, lows mids highs. Explosive attack, not in a good way, works the speakers hard. If played carefully with a light touch it sounds like nothing else, clean with a sharp slicing high mid. Requires powerful amp otherwise chokes and farts a lot. An infuriating instrument, constantly tinkering with string height, yet I dream of it and lust for it day and night.

The split coil pbass is more useful and useable. The scpb is special.

I own the current indo made CV50P, sound much bigger and higher output than my previous China CV50P.
The only way i tame the thunderous tone via drop Pickup height + Dunlop Super bright 40-100.

Yes sir, the first time I plucked a string after bringing it home I thought I blew the speaker. I lowered the pickup and raised the strings, I must keep the E and A high for my taste.

And mine is the China-made one, I can’t imagine what yours must be like.

Thank you for the Dunlop string suggestion.

Why do you think the Dunlop Super Brights would be good strings for the scpb? I am now trying to decide between these (the nickel ones) and the DR Pure Blues. Also for my split coil pbass. I usually use Rotosound 66 nickels, and other nickels in the past like Ernie Ball, D'Addario, all sound the same to me. The noticeable difference is with steel strings, nice but short-lived tone, and feel like sandpaper. I would like to know your opinion.
