Precision vs Jazz neck

im sure this thread has been done countless times but im gunna start it anyways since i dont wanna go searching for an old one.

i like jazz neck so much more, they just feel so right in my hand. i have a squier p and fender jazz mim and the difference in size feels like forever for me. especially at the nut and i measured, the difference is only like 1/8 and inch. im definetly a jazz neck guy

which do you prefer and why? i realize this is totally subjective which is why i say "prefer" and not "better" i feel like p basses are more popular but that isnt solely because of the neck. what is the more general consensus among tbers or is it fairly even?

P and J bass necks can vary so much depending on model and brand. Especially with front to back thickness. Nut width is only a small part of the equation. So personally it's hard to say which I prefer. I have to go on a bass by bass comparison.

It is totally subjective. I prefer the narrower J-necks style necks, but with a little more front to back thickness than typical Fenders. I love the feel of Warmoths because they have the feel I like.

I'd be more than happy to express my opinion once more! I definitely prefer the "modern C" P neck that is on the current Am. Std. & MIM Precisions. I have one of each and they just feel right to me. I'm currently wanting to find another Am. Std. P neck to put on my '08 MIA Jazz. I think Fender should offer a choice between the two on at least the MIA basses as a reasonable extra cost option instead of having to order thru the Custom Shop.

You are right, this subject has been beaten to death. Personally, I don't care which neck I am playing. I have several Fender Jazz basses and several Fender Precisions. I go from one to the other and don't even think about it.

Same here. Both work fine for me and no adjustment required when switching between them.
