Precission vs Rick 4003

Hi Justin

What would be your preference to get grind punk tones? Precission CS or 70´Rickenbacker jetglo 4003? I only can get one of them but i can´t compare at the same time... I want the most agressive and wild tone and i will use it mostly with distortion. I love the sub-low of precission but i never tried a 4003 in a proper enviroment to get an idea of his capabilities, i love Motorhead tones but i would like more bottom to my own sound .Sadly at the time i only can buy one... which one?

As a Former Hardcore Punk Bassist, previous owner of two precisions and then and current owner of a 4003, I'd say go with the 4003 for the tone/uses you're talking about. The Rickenbacker can get perfectly adequate lows with the proper settings, and the type of tone you're talking about will be easy to get from it, yet more difficult to coax out of the precision bass. (In my opinion of course)

Ricky is so freakin rad. I'd recommend, if you don't have to have that pillowy bottom end of the P. Man, they're so sexy and cool sounding. P is good for those proper punk J.J. Burnel tones, tho!!

Either bass will work fine for punk.

Both can do the impudent in your face raw tone.

Thank you Justin and other guys! Probably my best option is purchase both... and i will do some day. Now i think i will go for the vintage Rick because is very cheap (about 1300 EUR) and is in good shape.

For the future a vintage 70´precission or actual custom shop model?

Speaking about vintage P... what do you think of this? Vintage 75 precision. Pickups are Lindy Fralin...worth it? 1900 $

I think that is a bit expensive also without ALL original (1500 EUR) but here in Spain people are selling all original vintage 70´precision about 2300 EUR (3000$) Maybe too expensive in relationship with EEUU, right?

have you any suggest in where to buy a vintage Fender precision in USA at a decent price and good shape?

should i discard models without original pickups?

If it sounds good, buy it. You should post in the "basses" section...people there can point you in the right direction for good vintage P buys.
