Predicament...

Ok - So I put a $600AUD deposit on a Trans White Sadowsky M5-24 on August 8th this year (qouted $3000AUD).
I have just been informed that it is now now arriving until December 1st.
Prior to this I was advised mid November.
Prior to this I was advised mid September.
Bass has been on order since mid July.

I really want this bass but I am certain that I am going to have to wait even longer (if not until next year) for this.

Should I:
A) Get my depost back and search for something else (suggestions please)
or
B) Just keep on waiting?

I am supposed to be recording the bass tracks with my new band early next year and am really hoping to have it (or somethingelse) to record with.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Other than being informed of constantly changing arrival dates, how has communication been in general? It's Sadowski. Someone will talk to you. Ask if more money down would act as an incentive.

I'm waiting on a bass from a luthier (not Sadowski) and I knew going into it that the wait may be a while. I'm more patient than I normally am, because it's THE bass I want.

You have a choice whether to reward their behavior, however nice the bass may be. There are so many other options out there. I'd go with something else, unless they give a discount, or in some meaningful way acknowledge their issues.

Well I was informed that there would be a little wait - but not a 6 month wait. It's not direct from Sadowsky - it is a dealer in Melbourne. As for communication; I have had to constantly call for updates.

I would have gone used. Mine is arriving tomorrow - a 4 day wait. Of course, things are a little different down under I assume. It's a long way away from most everything. Not making excuses, everything I hear about Sadowsky CS is good, but even good people have bad days.

Well that's the thing. I can choose from Warwicks (which I'm not fond of - sorry!), Ibanez's (Über floppy B string and not the sound I'm after), Music Man's, Corts & Fender's; all of which don't float my boat. I could go a Bongo 6 but wait... they are not in stock. Maybe I should just hold onto my 3k and use my Schecter Studio 6. :(

I waited about 6 months for both of my Sadowsky basses. In the grand scheme of things it weren't nothin. Well worth the wait.

Is the bass being built to order? If so, then try to be patient and enjoy the anticipation. If it's already built and just sitting in some warehouse somewhere? Then I advise you to raise some hell and get that bass ASAP!

In 1976 I got on the waiting list for a 5 string Rickenbacker. After a year I asked for my deposit back. Do you think that I regret that now?? Of course!

Cool your jets and wait for the bass of your dreams. Life isn't fair, but when you get the bass you'll be glad you waited. What do you think a 1976 5 string Rickenbacker would be worth today; not to mention 35 years of enjoyment.

I would call them and see what they say. You need to start somewhere if you want to find out what's going on. If they can't help you, then surely they must have an idea of who could? Worth a shot, IMO, especially if you've been waiting that long. The 1st of December is only two more weeks, IF they can get it to you by then. I wouldn't settle for less.

I wouldn't exclude Ibanez unless you have tried their Premium/Prestige lines already and didn't like them. Definitely solid instruments.
