Presonus 16.0.2 Issues

This is the board I WISH was rock solid because it sounds so good. I had bought and returned 2 of these boards for the same reason, Ch 15/16 completely dead, the entire strip and all inputs.

The first board had ch 15/16 not working right out of the box verified all the other channels to make sure it wasn't "Finger Problems" caused by me. I bought the units at L&M in Winnipeg and they were more then accommodating and exchanged my board with no issues.

The second board sounded just as awesome as the first, I used CH 15/16 for music playback from my iopd and 13/14 for my computer playback. The board worked famously for 24 hours and then silence..... from Ch 15/16. troubleshoot as before and All other Channels were good to go, once again L&M (north Winnipeg) pulled out off the stops and after speaking to on of their knowledgeable sound techs it was evident that there was nothing I was doing that had caused either failure.

This has seriously sullied my opinion of PreSonus products, as their equipment has bulletproof notoriety.

I'm sure going to miss the bells and whistles, but I'm going back to the evil I know. Another Analog rig.

I went to a Yamaha MG206C which is a VERY simple mixer but it has the 4 aux channels I required. I used an MG12/4 for almost 15 years and it's been bulletproof.

I was going to get a used A&H MixWiz used (Way better board), but I didn't have the deskspace for it.

Sometimes the evil you know is the evil you don't know.

The most common Presonus 16.0.2 tech support call and I know because I was one of them......be sure that you didn't put the output of the channel 15/16 to firewire, something you can't see just by looking. When I first got my 16.0.2 I thought my chan 2 went dead but I had put the output to firewire by accident, pushing too many buttons in a rush, etc. You would see it on the 16.4.2 but not 16.0.2 so you have to check the output.

Hoping it's something simple for you. I love the sound of that little board and although I live the A&H mixwiz, the ease of having the effects on the presonus make being lazy that much easier. A little gate here, limiter there, some ping pong delay...just too easy on the presonus to give it up.

Sorry for the late reply, I tried all in inputs into that channel, XLR, TRS, and RCA and then compared to all the other channels, and it was dead. I hope that this is revealed as a design issue and could be repaired with later revisions, because I would buy that board in a heartbeat if it could be bulletproof.
