Pretty much retired but I still need fuzz

Funnily enough, I just picked up an M85 on backorder from Sweetwater a short time ago partially because of the JimmyM recommendation. Also paid for via corporate profits, lol.

I have the Wampler Fuzztration, but finding I'm not super in love with it. Thinking my next grab might be the SolidgoldFX Imperial MK2 just because it'll fit in the same spot on my board and I won't need to rewire anything.

I like my m85... quite a bit less "buzzing bees" than the bead fuzz... and can still hold down a saturated low end.

only problem is I've now ordered a behringer sf300 so I can do both buzzing bees and saturated low end... what kind of sorcery is this!?

I know some people say it still loses low end but I'll see how it goes.

And yes the sy1 is awesome. Can give you plenty option paralysis trying to settle on a settings though!

Yep, that's a wild one. The gain can rip a hole in your cones on a 1/4 dial! I modded mine so the internal trim pot was moved to a front facing mini pot. It worked really well and opened up the pedal's versatility a lot.

That's a good selection. I'd have to say that's what I'm shooting for in a fuzz pedal collection. Not too deep but with a little variety. Don't have a gated fuzz but I have some fuzz and a gate. Currently I've got a Green Russian reissue, an Animato clone, and I can get a surprisingly great handful of fuzz tones with my Tech 21 VT Deluxe with the drive all the way up. Even Rattish in a way. But it doesn't quite get full-on Rat. Got a Mosky Black Rat, but while it sounds good on bass in LED mode, it doesn't have enough low end in silicon mode, and that's my favorite.

LOL! Sheila did have papers for me to sign, and I did get that motivational speech, but the growth potential in this gig is there. The center's only been open for a year, they aren't anywhere close to fully staffed, and growth potential is there. They work your ass off, but they treat you right and try to make it fun.

It's funny: I chose Fuzzbass as my first online handle back in the pre-internet days of dial-up BBSes. That was because I was big into industrial bands like Ministry, NIN, Pigface: listening to, not performing. That said, the username is ironic here at TB because I eventually realized that I prefer OD/distortion (often stacked) to true fuzz for my heaviest rock tones.

"Dance to the Music" is the only reason I've ever gigged fuzz, but nobody in my "big band" has ever cared what tone I use for that song, or even if it's squeaky clean. So, I no longer own any fuzzes. If/when I get to play that song again, I'll just kick in distortion.

Bottom line is that I can't provide you much helpful advice about fuzz specifically. That said: I don't believe this pedal's at GC, but I loved the Empress Multidrive. The cool thing about it is that it's 3 stackable dirt modules in one: overdrive, distortion, and fuzz. It has some cool bells and whistles such as master EQ, and switchable HPF/LPF for each channel. It's the dirt pedal I most regret letting go. If I had to have fuzz for "DttM", I would have kept it because I could kick in the fuzz just for that tune, but otherwise still have my always-on overdrive or whatever within that same pedal. Yes, there are much fancier programmables, but I'm a K.I.S.S. guy so they've never been my style. The Empress is analog, and all tweakability is on the top of the pedal, not buried in menus or smartphone app.

Seen it, never tried it. Pedals with too much tend to confuse and frighten me, and there's enough to be frightened about with some of my pedals without adding more knobs and switches :D

I hear you. I'm starting a corporate-style job right now. There's a charm to seat-of-your-pants "mom & pop" jobs, but with it comes drama (at times) and less structure.
