Man, Prince's death hit harder than any musician ever. His death was tragic, but I am really enjoying looking back at all of the great music he created.

I have faith that there are geniuses working right now, either under the radar, or unknown. Ultimately, you cannot have music without musicians. I respect Hip Hop, but sampling and editing existing musician creative, but it is not creating new music. In the social sciences and humanities, both editing others work, and writing new research is respected, but editing is not creation. Creativity is creativity, whether in music or academia.

agreed. i think erykah badu is a genius, she's under the Pop radar but her music and messages have been very unique. Same with D'Angelo.
