probably a really noob question about DI

I have a parametric equalizer obviously it has balanced in/out (xlr) and unbalanced in/out (1/4 inch). I'm running the eq through a loop on my amp with regular unbalanced 1/4 jacks. Is it possible to use the xlr out as if it were a DI box, or would that not be doable. Sorry if that's a lame question, thanks

*forgot to mention its a behringer peq2200, i checked the manual and it didn't say anything that would say if i can or can't do that.

It might work, except that the XLR and the 1/4" are both likely balanced and wired in parallel, so in using a 1/4" TS cable, the XLR would become unbalanced (and therefore likely to have noise problems).

Additionally, many mixers have global phantom power, and the EQ is likely to be unhappy with phantom on its output.

Using either input of the EQ will get a signal on both its outputs, so technically it will work. However, as Timmy noted, using both outputs at the same time might be an issue. You’ll just have to try it and see. I don’t think I’d worry about the phantom power issue, it would be no different than using the XLR output from your amp. I’ve never heard of anyone claiming phantom power was a problem with that.

However, you’ll have to keep in mind that any EQ you’ve dialed in on the equalizer will be sent directly to the house system, for better or worse...

What I would try would be to run your input into channel 1. Run the output of the 1/4" into the input of channel 2. Run the XLR output of ch 1 as the DI. Bypass the EQ on ch 1 ie. turn in off.
Run your normal eq curve on ch2, and connect the output of ch 2 into your amp. That should send a non eq'ed signal to the FOH, and your eq preference into your amp. Daisy chaining those two channels of eq should not be a problem.
Worth a try anyways. You may have to play with the gain a little bit.

Never mind. It looks like that one is a single channel unit,
