I play through a Ampeg BA115. I have had this amp since christmas and its been giving me great tones and enough power for everything. I got a 5 string about a month ago and today I'm having the amp distort and rattle and cut in and out. Any one have an idea ? I've praticed with it in my room at 2 and play a drum machine through it, but the manual says the amp can play cds and aux equiment. I don't turn the drum machine up at all. Please help

Problem playing 5 trough a 1x15?

it could be the active pickups. try plugging the new 5 into the -15dB input and see if that makes a difference. Also experiment with your volume knob some, on both inputs, to see what level of the volume knob causes that.

Yah sounds like the amp has bad solder joints, or bad jack contacts, etc.

Went throught 3 different cables and checked both jacks between my active 5 and my 4 string Ibanez(passive) My parents got some extened warranty from GC soo i'll bring there this weekend. I took off the front, the grill cover and the speaker isn't moving different must be something internal.
