Hello,
I'm wiring up a bass after taking it apart for refinishing, and I'm having a tough time eliminating an issue with the pickups/preamp. The bass is a Warmoth with Bartolini BC4CBC pickups and the NTMB+ preamp. I bought the preamp on its own instead of a prewired harness since I already had the pots, battery box, etc. I have the preamp wired according to these instructions, with a blend pot, no mid switch, and with the push/pull active/passive switch on the volume pot.

The only place where my wiring differs from this wiring diagram is the blend pot - I have an "alps" brand pot which seems to be constructed backwards from the one in the diagram. When wired as the guide says, the center position cut both pickups, and the extreme on and off were the neck or bridge pickups soloed. I think the stacking of the "left-handed" and "right-handed" pots is just flipped compared to the diagram.
So anyway the issue is that when played in active mode, the mid control acts as a second volume control, and the bass control doesn't work at all. Plus after about 30 seconds of being plugged in the output soundes "fizzy" for a few seconds and then cuts out completely, as if the battery has died. The only way to get the bass to work again is to unplug and plug back in the output jack. Passive mode does work normally all of the time though.
So has anybody run into this issue? I kind of vaguely remember having the same issue when I assembled the bass the first time but then I fixed it, unfortunately I don't remember the details. I've been double-checking the wiring several times but can't find any issues.
Has anybody else run into this issue??? Thanks for the help!
