Problem with MXR Blowtorch.

I'm having problems getting my MXR Blowtorch running in my effects loop.

I have a standard Diago daisy chain running from a Boss 9V adaptor, the pedal loop being:

IN > Korg Pitchblack > BOSS Super Octave OC-3 > MXR Blowtorch > OUT

I was going to get the Diago 18v adaptor to attach my Blowtorch to the daisy chain (I wanted to avoid getting a separate 18v power supply) but they have been out of stock for ages, so I ordered two 'battery to 9v input' adaptors (the Diago White adaptor) instead, so I could connect them to the 9v battery inputs and run them from those. This would use two inputs from the daisy chain.

The problem is that this configuration just does not work - I cannot get the Blowtorch running at 18v without using a battery. When I connect both 'battery to 9v input' adaptors to the daisy chain, all my pedals cut out.

My theory is that using two inputs from my daisy chain into the Blowtorch is creating some kind of loop that the pedal isn't happy with.

I'd really appreciate some help with this. Any suggestions / solutions?

Cheers,

But that's how it works with the battery slots. It takes two 9v batteries that link to different wires, so replacing that with two 9v inputs going into those battery inputs should theoretically work the same.

Besides, the pedal still works on 9v, in that it still turns on and functions, just nowhere near as well. When I connect the two daisy chain slots to the battery wires it completely cuts out the entire chain. So it can't be a case of just 9v going into the 'Torch, otherwise it'd still work as opposed to turning off all of my pedals :hmm:

You're right that it makes 18v with two batteries, but you're theory is wrong on using two adapters on a 9v supply. That's why they make the 18v wall adapters and 18v power supplies. The reason it's knocking out your other pedals is because the blowtorch is sucking all the juice out of the daisy chain and starving the other pedals by trying to run on 9v. A 9v power supply CANNOT supply 18v. Got another Boss adapter or onespot? If you put a battery adapter on each one, then you could plug the second adapter straight into the blowtorch. Bottom line, you will have to have either an 18v supply or two 9v adapters to power that pedal. Good luck!
