Problem with Pro Tools 6

When I highlight a part of a track such as a little part in the middle and try to put effects to just that little part it says "No audio was selected" but if I select the whole track it let's me put effects. Has this ever happened to anyone else and if so, how did you fix it? BTW, this is for Pro Tools LE 6.1. Thanks

Try making a region out of the audio you want the FX on.

Also , you can always automate that effect, if it is an Audiosuite effect it should be automatable as a RTAS effect.
