Problem with Soundblox BEF Pro: high pitch noise

Has anybody have this issue with this pedal?

I love the pedal, it's a little big, but it sounds so good and it's so controllable... it's great!
But today I went to use it and... it does not work. All it does is emit a high pitch noise.
It's mounted on my pedalboard, and nothing has changed since I last used it, and other pedals work just fine...

Has anybody experienced this problem before?

Have I just got a large paperweight? :crying:

Isolate the pedal and just use it on its own, see if the high pitch goes away.

If your running a bunch of pedals on a single power supply snake.
and then the pedal starts to whine then yes it is a poop pedal design.

otherwise it could be something simple like you have to many pedals on a single power supply and there is a voltage drop.

some digital pedals are very sensitive to low voltage and will just go to nothing or do strange things when not enough voltage is present

Mine has done that a few times using the original power supply and cycling the power always fixed it. I have not had that problem at all since using a pedal power unit (mxr mc403)

oh, and you will not end up with a paper weight, it's fixable. Go to the SA website email the support.

exactly still poopy design

but if you run a power supply with isolated outputs, and separate power cords to each pedal, instead of a single snake that feeds all your pedals.

then the poopy pedal will behave a little better.
but most pedals do ok on snakes, no reason why they would not.

so some blame the power snakes, but its not.

I run it from a TRex power supply, with isolated outputs, from a single output, all by itself. I have run the first version (smaller, no presets, no EQ etc) and a multiwave distortion off a similar supply in a second board for ages, always fine.

I removed the pedal and tried it on its own, and tried a different power supply... same result.

I emailed support and I haven't heard from them yet. We will see... but I don't have any receipts or anything, so I doubt I can use any kind of warranty. However I would pay to have it fixed, if I'm reasonably reassured that it won't break again after a few months. I really like this pedal!

The T-Rex Fuel Tank ISN't an isolated output power supply. It has two isolated inputs, but the main 9 volt outputs share a common ground. Also SoundBlox doesn't say what the mA current draw is, but seeing all the digital bells and whistles, I'm sure it's a high-draw pedal. I'd bet the Fuel Tank power supply is a switchmode instead of a linear power supply, and they can get noisy under high loads.

Well, it ships with a 300mA power supply, and I dont think it draws more than 200mA without the hot hand adapter... with the hot hand adapter it would draw a little bit more.

All I know is the specs state 5 isolated outputs with a max draw of 120mA from each...
