    hey guys,

i have some troubles with my new lakland 5502 which i got today.
it has lakland's lh-3 preamp and the lakland pick-ups of course, the bass was made in 2009 so it is brand new!

the volume knob only works when turned up full, when it's not turned up full it doesn't work :bawl:
furthermore, the bass is much louder in active mode (without any boost of the preamp) than in passive mode...

    help me please!
    :help:

maybe the lakland owners group could help :hyper:

That seems easy... bad volume pot. Did you buy it from a dealer? Take it back.
In any event if it is a 2009 that should be a warranty issue.

Open the back of the bass and turn up the little gain knob(with a small screwdriver). See if you volume level increases.

And it being louder in active mode is natural.

  8. Contact, Kirk (I think that's his name), the Tech at Lakland, [email protected]. He can walk you through a diagnoses.

My friend had trouble with a secondhand 55-01 and Kirk communicated directly with him to resolve the issue. Kirk even offered to communicate directly with whatever repair shop my friend used locally.

    Lakland CS is top notch!

Apparently I type too slow! LOL! ;)

I had the same issue. I e-mailed Kirk @ Lakland and he sent me a new knob.

You may wish to forward your previous e-mail to him to-day.

I would forward my previous e-mail every day until I got a response, if I were in your position. (But then I'm impatient with new things which don't work properly.)

EDIT: Not that this will help your immediate volume pot problem, but the wiring diagram for your bass is worth looking at to gain a greater understanding of how your instrument's electronics work.

Nope. Didn't pay a dime. I had my tech install the new knob.
