Hemispheres. It's not a lesser known one, but Geddy's basslines on that album are so insane....I have a very hard time moving my fingers that fast across all the strings.

Chris Squire's lines in every Yes album, but especially on Relayer. Sound Chaser.....

Greg Lake kills on Tarkus and King Crimson's Court.

King Crimson's Red is also impressive.

Could not agree with you more !!! Trewavas has done a tremendous job with Transatlantic! Listen to Marillion-Misplaced childhood and you will hear awesome bass lines from him !!! A nice guy too !!

UK- John Wetton is fantastic with that band !!!

To-Mera amazes me. Most albums I listen to, and I have perhaps an inkling that if I really sat down and spent the time to hash it out, I could play it. But I just find the To-Mera stuff to be above and beyond. And the changes are just nuts... The first song on their first album goes from a blast-beat to a vamp in the blink of an eye.

I've heard some great bassist that were part of the British prog wave of the 70s. One is Mont Campell of Egg. Both bassist on Colosseum's Daughter of Time, Mark Clarke and Louis Cennamo play divinely and would probably make Jack Bruce green with envy. Then there's Richard Sinclair.

Yes, Hemispheres is an awesome album!

May I add in Frank Zappa's Hot Rats? It doesn't feature bass so heavily, but the lines are clever and always fit in. Tricky, too!

both anekdoten and anglagaard are some great swedish prog bands. anglagaard are unfortunately no longer around, but especially their first album hubris was awesome.

anekdoten's vemod sounds just like red-era king crimson - in fact, iirc they started as a kc cover band.
