Double Bass Protective bumpers for corner storage?

For those of you that store your upright bass facing a corner, do you use any type of bumpers to protect the finish on your bass and the paint on your walls? If so, what's your setup?

I've been storing my bass in the corner for years, and there are bare spots on the bass finish where it touches the wall, and the wall paint is scratched up where the bass touches the wall.

I've been refinishing the basement/music room and would like to get something nicer looking for my bass corner.

I use these: Bass Edge Protector Set - Bumpers (Leather or Rubber)

The edge protectors probably won't touch the walls when the bass is leaned up into a corner. They protect well when you lay it down on its side.

For a long time, I just used a clean blanket or kitchen towel for a bit of cushion - I'd just make sure it was bunched up a tiny bit where the upper bout made contact with the walls.

For my new bass, I'm still babying it, and it goes back into the case every day when I'm done.

Like mjt, I use something cloth and temporary, like a towel or summat, rather that something attached to the front table. I imagine that a couple of bass aprons thrown on but not tied down would be an easier on/off solution...

As long as you're reworking your practice area, what about a pair of padded rails mounted to the wall?

I put the bass back in it's bag after I'm done playing. There's no wear on the bass or the walls that I can see...

True.
But you can lay the bass with a side against a wall.
The FB won't be hidden in the corner that way though.

Here’s what I did - built a few simple wood frames and put self-adhesive cork on them. They sell it in rolls at Hobby Lobby for a few bucks. Works really well.

What I'd really like to add is a small brace on the floor that the endpin can rest in. My basses are in corners that aren't near the traffic flow but I'd love to have them a little more securely in place. Someday I'll find a couple of nice fir blocks, finish them, and then nail or glue them in to the appropriate location.

The guys at Gage's just have some kind of fasteners in the wall that they loop a cord around the back of the neck up by the scroll heel...

There was a discussion about this method awhile ago. I’ve used it back in my days of small NYC apartments. Certainly David Gage knows a thing or two on how to store a few doghouses.
But I also like bherman’s suggestion of small cork squares if you have the corner option.

I've thought about that, too. I guess someday I should get out the studfinder and put some loops into the wall. No sense hanging my baby on drywall.

In or out of its cover you can store the bass upright against a flat wall by tying the scroll to a hook in the wall. Edge protectors are great for laying it on the floor but not long enough if you store the bass side on between a cupboard end and a corner( another safe way). My preference is a padded stand shaped like an A-frame with a pad at the apex to rest back on a few degrees. Storing a bass with its bridge into a corner is a good way and I would use an old bath towel around the shoulders like a shawl to protect the walls and varnish. But ensure that the end pin cannot slip on the floor o0r damage it. I use a rectangle of1/2 inch ply with sticky carpet underlay stapled to it - this is my poor man's version of a rock stopper.
