Great job... I REALLY like that 3rd design

Upper lobe (can't really call it a horn, can we?) in the 3rd render feels too pointy for my taste...

So the new prototype comes closer to the second render right? I just can't decide which one looks better the second or the third.

My current update is very similar to a blend of 2 and 3... the upper bout is still rounder, but it's shorter, and the waist is thicker.

The only thing wrong with it is it's not mine!!!

I'm not entirely sure that this exact one will ever be for sale, but one never knows...

Why do I always seem to do these things at 12:30 am?

Here's an MP3 of this... my playing is lousy, even with the lines, but they helped.

My sound card has started clipping, and making "clicking" sounds, which disturbs me...

Also, the rotary switch pops a little if you change it while playing a note... capacitance, I'd guess.

Anyway, on to the pseudo-music:

What do you think?

Wood pup covers would be the only change I would make, of course ;) The original design is my favorite.

Thanks, Roger. I considered wooden pickup covers, but I really like the *shape* of the jazz covers, for some reason, and I'm not sure how I'd render that in wood... they'd be awfully thin.

The "second prototype" I made (see a few posts back for a side-by-side comparison) is *very* close to the original design, the main difference is that the upper "lobe" (can't really call it a horn) is reduced slightly.

The bass plays very well. The slightly wider string spacing at the nut only seems to add to the playability. The strings are not parallel, the string spacing at the nut is 1.625", and the bridge spacing is 18mm which makes the strings 2.20" from E center to G center.

The neck has a flattened "D" profile, and it about 0.875" thick at the nut, and 1.0" at the body joint. The neck doesn't dive at all, and the tone is great. I do love those Nordstrand pickups (and the Aguilar preamp doesn't hurt, either). :)

To be honest, I like your original design, long upper horn and slim waist, the only thing that I'm not really digging is the headstock. Maybe the picture doesn't do it justice, but to me it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the design. Maybe its too reserved when compared with the body shape/design?

Just my opinion. Obviously, your workmanship is top notch, and I am once again inspired to start my own designs. Cheers!
