Prunes and Custard, Big Muffs and all that Jazz

Brand new here please don't shoot, I've done some research on my own but was just wanting some clarification.

I a currently thinking of upgrading some of my gear, The band are currently taking on tunes like deeper underground, Uprising, Hysteria etc etc, and I've never used pedal at all really bar the odd time so fairly new to it all.

I like the look of the Prunes and Custard it seems fairly versatile, Would you run it with anything else, i.e a green big muff, EHX multiplexer, OC-2 etc and if so what order would be best etc. Would you look to blend a dry and distorted signal and how etc as well

Please bare in mind very new to pedals so go easy ha ha.

All help appreciated. :hiding:

Effects poedals are tools. Which ones you use, and how you use them, is totally up to you. There are no limitations on fx, and no rules, though with experience, you'll find certain ones work better than others for your style, and the order in which you chain them has a big influence as well. Experimentation is key.

How a pedal/effect "plays" in a setting is key - what's great in a store or at home might get completely swallowed up in a gig situation . . .
Also bear in mind that some of the guys on this forum have the budget of a small country's GDP to work with - they also know the ins & outs of re-distribution/resale . . .
They're a fabulous bunch, actually . . . :D

I'm a stingray guy myself and here's my take.

If there are a lot of people in your band, then get a fuzz with a mid bump or control (swollen pickle, pickle pie b, grey stache). Otherwise you will get buried in the mix and you won't hear yourself.

Some effects are wonky with active bases, so be sure to do your homework before buying.

Buy used: once ya start, ya just can't stop

Yes to the OC-2 (before P&C or similar) and yes to a clean blend (I use a Boss LS-2).
I'd also check out the Red Ripper and Source Audio.

LS-2 think is a definite buy. since i wrote the orginal thread, i'm kinda looking at Mulitplexer, Big Muff and LS-2 to get me started.

Run the clean blend with the LS2 and Oct pedal with big muff in the other chain,

The dark underworld of pedals is beginning to take its next victim.
gonna check out red ripper and source audio now :hyper:

Octave into P&C into envelope is fun times. Can be extremely tough on speakers though, distortion and octave down and loud is a recipe for disaster.

+1 to buying used, there's only so much you can tell from youtube demos. And there's always another pedal demo cued up, before you know it you need a bigger pedal board.

Think friday is going to be the day going to my local music shop get some pedals out and give the a go.

Ls 2 multiplexer. Big muff and bass big muff are on the agenda. Checking out online store to see what else they have. Try before u buy and all that.
