Pulled the Trigger and bought a GK Fusion 550

I did it, bought my self a GK Fusion 550. Brought it home last night and played it a little while in the jam room.
For a quick review I compared it to my 1001RB II. I was a little scared before comparing the the two. Did I just spend $1000.00 on an amp that sounds the same as what I already have :rolleyes: Well it sounds the same as my 1001RB II but with the warmth and fullness that the tube preamp brings. The thing is definetly built like a tank and the features are simple and easy to use. So for now I like my new purchase.
I will be using it this Friday night as i will be trying out for a Funk Band. Hopefully the amp and myself will bring the goods!

Pics to come, rite now I'm playing through my 2 SWR cabs, a 210 WorkingMan Pro and a 115 WorkingMan Pro. I like them, they sound great and are small and lite. I'm thinking of picking up a GK 412 Neo.
As for the Fusion over the MB, it's built like a tank, not too heavy for its size and I liked the sound I am getting from it.
I guess there's something to be said for having a manly size head on your stack :D

All wrapped up in a SKB Headcase rack. I like to protect my investments.

I would say the 1001RB has a little more jam volume wise but you can't beat the tone from the 550. I played a gig with the 550 this past weekend, it had no problem holding its own. I used my Mark Bass cabs (1 - 210 & 1 - 410) though it sounded good I don't think they are the best choice. I'm thinking a GK 412 or SWR 410.

Welcome to the "club"!!! I've had mine for a year and very happy with it. Warmth is a very good description, while not an SVT it certainly sounds more alive than the S.S. heads. I play mostly P's so I have the horn rolled off, but with the two separate channels, you can have a channel set for 2 different basses. I also like the tuner mute, I use it to "standby" or when switching between basses.

I run mine thru the G-K 4-12" NEO cab and the two are well mated to each other. Although it weighs nearly 100lbs., because of the handle and casters the cab is much easier to move around and load in/out. If you have 2 people it is no problem to lift it in the back of a trailer, etc.

So far I have had ZERO problems, my only bitch is I haven't found a head box I like for it yet. I would suggest they offer it as a vintage styled head with it's own box like all the tube heads of the past. Good luck, I'm sure you will love it!!! :bassist:

For me no because I play P-basses and don't use it much, but it's a nice feature to have in case you ever do. I'm currently putting a MIM Jazz together with a P neck, so when I start using it live that will probably change. This is where having the ability to set the two channels completely different comes in very handy!!!
