Pulled the trigger on an LMTube. Rack concerns

Curiosity got the best of me and I ordered an LMTube (500 watt A/B version). I'm torn on how to rack it. My first thought was in a shallow rack with my rack tuner. It's not clear to me on the Markbass site, how many spaces these take up when racked using Markbass' separate rackmount kit.. Anybody have an answer on that?

Alternatively I'd considered one of Markbass' amp bags and a separate tuner. How does everyone feel about their bags?

Last but not least would be a messenger or laptop bag. Does Markbass' amp bag offer something beyond these?

What say you TB?

Cool! You will enjoy that head!

The LM series are slightly less than two rack spaces, but the rack ears are designed to fit two rack spaces (i.e, they kind of angle in to the head from the standard two screw/two rack space ends. It works fine.

I have the rack bag for my F1 and like it a lot... B+ quality, A+ design. You can keep the head in the bag when using it.

If you don't want to pay the price for the MB bag, quite a few have had success with the very inexpensive Ginz Skinz (if I have that name right) bags (and I think the small Gator bags). They work well. If you PM TBer Vic, he can give you the exact scoop on low cost bags that have almost a 'custom fit' for this head.

I would get the MB bag and a Sonic Turbo tuner to run in line and be done with it:D

Not that this is one of the options you mentioned but just to offer a different perspective.

With my LMIII (I believe it's the same size as the Tube?) I use an ATA flight/briefcase made by Ga Case that the LMIII fits like a glove in. The case is heavy duty to put it lightly and protects the LMIII well. There is even room for my foot pedal style tuner and all my cables.

I'll throw in my standard two cents whenever the subject of racking a micro amp comes up.

Wouldn't that be GREAT???

With more and more manufacturers going micro, it would seem the logical step for amps, effects, etc...... I know, some are offering standard rack mounts for their gear, but how about a 12" w. rack case?
Just think about a 12"w. x 9" h. case that would house an amp, tuner, and effects unit, weighing around 10 lbs.!! Or skip the tuner and have a 7" h. case.

With nobody seemingly being able to agree on anything these days, it would probably be years before ISO/IEC could set a standard,

I use a gator 2u rack bag. Took a bit of work and about $5 for a couple metal bracket thingies from Home Depot, but its very secure the way I have it. And I have lots of room for cables etc.

I tried the MB bag but the zippers sucked and you cannot leave the cables and power cord plugged in.Its also not very much protection for the amp from the cover material. You certainly would not want to drop it.

With the gator I just unplug, shove in and zip up.

Easy as pie.

That will work! I assume MF has the LM series rack ears in stock. One of the cool things about racking these amps is that the rack will feel literally empty. I had my SA450 in an SKB 2 space, and guys would literally laugh when I had them pick it up!

Here is a picture of my LMII and tuner in a Gator 3-space shallow rack. Very happy with the case.
I have the DB750 in a shallow 4-space.
Pah-lenty of room for cords etc.

Shoot me a pm when you test out the LMT with you Schro 115 stack.
I ended up preferring my LMII with my 4ohm 15L+ over the DB750 although the DB just whooped for sure.

That picture cracks me up. Its like old and new for me. A DB750 and a DTR-1000 in a Gator 4-Space rack below an LM and a rack tuner in a 3-space shallow rack above. Great minds MUST think alike on this one :smug:

I'll definitely give my consensus for the LMTube and 15+L combination. I'm thinking its going to be quite tasty.

guess im all alone in this but, I put mine in a tool case that also holds all of my pedals and cords, i got it at home depot, for like 10 bucks its great cuz I rool up with my 2x15 on wheels pulling behind me, my double bass gig bag on my back, and multi stand that folds down to a brief case and said amp case in the other and im a one trip from the truck bass player that can blow the doors down at any venue :) as for tuners i use a floor one that powers my pedals. but in the future I plan on having this company called top tone(they did an excelent job making my 1x18 reflux cab, and actually specialize in rack mount stuff) make me another case that has two compartments so i can hold 2 marks and a pedal board and all my cords. they are pretty cheap too. the cab was onlr 125 and that included a metal grill and 3'' casters plus the speaker, 180, nd I had a awesome cab way cheaper than anything I could buy, and I supported alocal music company in doing this, so sorry to take forever to say this but if your unhappy bout a rack you found/ cant find one try some local company's out that do just that. most of their work goes to DJs (aka the anti-Christs of modern rock) but they will make any thing. big ass racks for for PA stuff too,

Really looking forward to your opinion on the LMT/15L+ especially since we like the same racking gear ... I thought you might get a kick from that...

I really like both the DB750 and LMII a lot. I've pondered an upgrade on the LMII to either a SA450, TA501, LMIII, or the LMT. I like the new features on the new MB amps and like the sweepable mids on the other two older models. Might just keep what I've got too, time to practice...:bassist:
