Purchase GK 210 BLX to be Left @ Church?

It will be left at a church for myself to use, and I probably will not get it back when I leave. I have a line on a used one at a good price.

Church capacity is around 250 parishioners. Acoustics is not dead, nor does it have classic church reverberation. It's about ideal.

I do use a BA110v2 40-watt amp combo on occasion, and also my Avatar 2x12 with my Mark Bass LM250. I don't want to lose the 2x12. The head is no problem as I take that home every time. A 100-watt head would have headroom to spare at this church.

The goal is to find something cheap, not lightweight. So if it gets borrowed permanently, misplaced, or I lose ownership over time, I won't care much at all.

Do you think this will work, and not fart out or distorted as the 210BLK is known for here, apparently. I've not test drove it yet.

Or other suggestions for cheap, used cab?

BTW, this is the 210BLK version that does not have the silkscreen on the top, but the GK badge, top center; and the BLK logo in the lower, right corner. Maybe the latest version before ending this model line?

I cannot answer your question, but I have a Shuttle 2x10 cab that I leave at the church. I also have an old Genz Benz ML200 head that stays there as well. More than enough volume and headroom for this venue, but I have some bigger cabs and heads when needed in a larger or even outdoor venue. It sure saves a lot of unpacking, setting up, breaking down, and packing time.

I have a 4x10 GK BLX II cabinet. I mostly use it with an Acoustic B200H head, with nice results. I used to use it with a Traynor TS 50B head, also sounded good.

It actually surprises me how loud and deep it can get, and seems to get a pretty true sound. I keep trying to talk myself into selling it, and list it, but I think it’s worth more (to use) than they’re going for, and I take the listing back down.

I would recommend it as a good budget cabinet,especially if its speakers are in good condition. I think that the sound is more than acceptable, especially as a backline (which it’s named). It won’t be quite like your nicer cabs, but I doubt you’d regret it.

Plus, since it’s not a typically highly sought after cabinet, it may be less likely to be lifted, or borrowed and not returned.

Do you use a 5-string? I do, but mostly for the low Eb. I might have strayed lower a couple of times.

There is a 410BLX for sale, but it will not fit under the piano for stowage. It needs to be rolled under since I don't play all services. Just the first two morning services, funerals, and weddings.

Heavier is better than lighter as it probably would be less likely to be borrowed off-site. However, the music director would probably freak at a 8x10.

Yes, I normally use an Ibanez 5 string with it, it handles the lows with no problem.

The 4x10 is very likely going to perform much better in that area (and overall) than a 2x10 (in my experience), but if that’s what you need to work with, I’d think it would do well.

I really think that they’re pretty good quality, especially for their prices now.

If you get it, post how it works out for you, I’d be curious what you think.

Edit: the 4x10 is a bit large, but they usually have casters (or you could get new ones for it), and a sheet or something could be draped across it, moved off to the background, to help hide it, and maybe even put something else on it.
Just a thought.
