Put wood knobs on this Musicman Sabre?

This Musicman Sabre is due on Wednesday and already I'm considering the possibility of putting wood knobs on it since I find most stock knobs boring.

I was thinking Flamed Maple with a black indicator dot to match the neck.

Yay or nay?

I like stock knobs but wood would be cool. Don't forget to keep the stock ones as not to hurt resale value.

Nope - the Musicman standard ones look and more importantly feel totally 'right' - a feeling of being rock solid and quality.

Congratulations on the bass btw - I nearly bought one in that colour earlier in the year but now have a Neptune blue Sabre on order. Love the Mary Kaye trans white though.

Yeah, if you just gotta have wooden knobs, I'd go with matching Mary Kaye White knobs. Otherwise, the stock knobs look great.

Have you thought about a nice rosewood to mirror the pickguard a bit? I personally think that the Flamed Maple would be too lost against the chrome...

I was thinking about that actually, or cocobolo since it has more color in it generally.

I thought of a wood/maple hybrid. I think though that he is too busy now to take orders. I was going to get them through David King www.dknob.com
