I was wondering if anybody out there has tried having a luthier build a short scale neck for their jazz or precision bass. Warmoth doesn't make one and doesn't seem all that interested in making one either. I have a guy who will build me a rosewood for $400. Just wondering if my tone is going to change much. I love the tone the way it is with Fralins and I can't find anything out there that has a short scale neck that I like so.........anybody tried this? I know about the Japanese short scale but I wouldn't want to take a chance on one without playing it and Fender doesn't seem to be offering them here anytime soon.
