Double Bass Putting a String Trio together

Hey guys
I am putting a string trio togetherhere in Syracsue NY. The Instrumentation is Clssical Guitar, Cello and Upright Bass. The Guitarist is an arranger, and is doing arrangments for us to do Bach to todays pop music. I was wondering if anyone ever tried to do a group like this brfore.

I haven't, but I like the sound of it. I like a small group, a lot fewer problems. A duo can do a lot of nice things, but that third person can really add a lot. Post some recordings when you get a chance.

Just curious, what is your goal in terms of performances and are you in this for money making or just fun?
I think you should try to book background music for parties, birthdays, weddings, etc. I don't know if recital stuff would really be viable in that part of the country, unless you were willing to travel to Boston, or NYC, or something like that. If you're doing that sort of thing, you also have liberty to arrange creatively and for you and the guitarist to take the melody, instead of just the cello.
Try developing a repertoire of holiday songs, wedding music, the sort of things that blend into the din of a party but also sound familiar and fun when someone is listening in directly.

subscribed! this sounds like a great ensemble. none of you is going to be outrageously overpowering in terms of volume, and you have the option to arrange string trios that include a piano part because you have a chordal instrument.
