abark000 said:I have a love/hate relationship with this newest release. I think some of the songs are either awful or forgotable. Some are the best they've ever written.
I imagine losing the only other member left from the original lineup had an effect on that.
Mitchell Royce said:Nick wasn't in the original lineup though. He joined after the first album, even though he can be seen on the back of the CD.
I was a little put off my Lullabies at first but I really like it now.
abark000 said:News to me. I thought he was even credited to the bass work in the liner notes. I could be wrong.
Bryan R. Tyler said:He's credited all throughout the liner notes of Rated R for bass and songwriting credits, as well as having a few pics of him in there.
Matt Till said:Yep, a lot of people don't know they had an album before Rated R. Also, I don't know much about it, but Kyuss/Queens of the Stoneage did a split... how did that work out? Was Nick involved with that?
Matt Till said:Yeah, I would never see Queens live on the basis of all the live footage I've seen/heard. Josh Homme never sounds good at all. He seems like it's his first time playing guitar/singing at the same time, all the time.
Scottie Johnson said:I'm going to disagree. I have live vids of Mexicola, No One Knows, Regular John, The Sky is Falling, Hanging Tree, Tension Head, Feel Good Hit of the Summer, and Autopilot. I think he sounds good, not a great singer to begin with, but he works with what he has.
Just my opinion, and I don't have high standards for live vocals if the singer is playing an instrument.
abark000 said:I dislike John Garcia's voice so I don't like Unida or Hermano.
protoz said:His voice is a bit different, but that's probably why I like it. I haven't met more than 2 other people who actually like John's voice and they are in my band so it all works
Lullabies is a good disc but not their best. I like that they are getting back to the more instrumental approach and not writing as many pop songs but then again the bass work has really been simplified and it doesn't groove as well as if Nick was still int he band.
abark000 said:The heavy riffs and the trippy instrumentals were my favorite parts of Kyuss. Demon Cleaner is the only exception, for some reason I dig the vocals on that track.
