Quarter Pound P bass Pickups

Has anyone used the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound bass pickups ? Could youplease give me impressions on tone and such I am thinking of buying these babies right now online for my bass . Are they a passive pickup which i do need . Thanks

very strong pickup and its definitely passive but it can work with an on-board preamp as well.

i had a cheap alvarez that i wanted to get a little more thump out of, so i had bought them pickups. it definitely gave me the thump i was looking for but it still didn't change the sound of my cheap bass.. but if you have a decent bass to put them in you will probably like them, overall it was worth the purchase for me at the time.

I've got them in a P-Bass and a Hoppus bass. Good powerful tone, passive electronics on both. I would recommend 'em if your looking for a good upgrade for under $60.

I forgot to say-I only used the P version. I dont know about the J version first-hand
