Ask one of the senior players here. I'm sure they will insist the internal volume of the enclosure is in-fact engineered & "tuned" for a certain SPL efficiency, and have to be that large so the longer waves will not sound thin.why is it that it seems like most bass 4x12s aren't in the little square boxes that guitarists use? we put 4x10s in those things... why not 4x12s? (for a good image of the sort of 4x12 enclosure i'm thinking of, look no further than the aguilar gs412)
There are square 412's, my SWR 12-stack is one. I've seen bigger 410's than this cab, and it sounds great. Sounds even better with my SWR 12-pack on top of it too.
hey, i run a 12-stack with a 12-pack on top of it as well... 6-12's rock!!![]()
i'm still looking for a second 12-pack to go with my second 12-stack so that i can complete the 12-12 wall of doom!![]()
