Question About A Boss Pedal

I live in Canada and on a buy/sell/trade site (Kijiji) I came across a Boss Metal Zone for $60. I'm just wondering if this pedal is any good on bass (what are your experiences?) and if it's a good deal. It's brand new in the box, never used. Thanks in advance guys!

I have had one since I started playing guitar, and I still use it for bass.

Mainly use it to make noise and feedback though, like for noise parts and jams.

You can get some pretty decent highly distorted grindy bass out of it, if you set the highs just below 9 o'clock, lows just before 12 o'clock, mid frequency just below 9 o'clock and boost the mids to around 11 o'clock, especially if you blend it with some of your clean sound.

And I know for a fact other bass players use it too.

$60 seems like kind of a lot, except for maybe if it truly is in mint condition. Others regularly go for much less. Check out used.guitarcenter.com and you'll see that typical prices are $30-50.

Don't buy one for more than $30-$35. They go for waaaaaaaaay cheaper than $60 all the time. Check your local classifieds listings regularly and you'll see lots for super cheap. I wouldn't recommend it for bass, but it's always worth a try. However, don't expect to be able to flip it for much or even particularly easily. I've even seen one for $15 in good condition that sat on Craigslist for a month; I don't even know if anyone bought it.
