Question about Chromes

I got my 45-60-80-105 set of Chromes and put them on last night. A little "twang" but not bad, i do understand that will fade as they break in. The tension does feel very nice from string to string. I did have to adjust my truss rod about 1/8 as well as the saddles as these are definitely more tension than Black Beauties. For whatever reason, the E string feels huge even though I had .105 on both previous sets. I measured it and it is .106 at the 22nd fret. The strings also felt a little sticky so I wiped them down with 91% isopropyl alcohol. I don't know it was just release/oil from the manufacturing process or what...

So, after two weeks, the twang on the G (45) has faded. The 105 still feels like a bridge cable. Should I try a 100? (Jason, can I trade or whatever?) Will the tension be that much more or less? The lower ones are fine and I'm wondering if I should just should have got the light set at .045, .065, .080, .100?

I really like the XL nickel strings they make, and they've definitely converted me to the "balanced tension" fold, I just with that they offered balanced tension sets for chromes. I've been meaning to give flats a shot, but I can't seem to find any info on string tension for chromes that doesn't seem to contradict itself.

The new EB cobalt flats have piqued my interest, and I figured I'd get another set of brighter flats when I order those.

According to my research, the closest you can get in the Chromes Flats to the XL Nickels balanced set would be 40-55-75-100, which works out to be between 37 lbs. and 40 lbs. per string. I realize they're slightly lighter than the Nickel rounds in terms of tension, but due to the naturally stiffer nature of flats, they should even out in terms of overall playability.

I'm not too worried about them being lighter. I can easily roll off the truss rod a touch to keep the neck happy. I was just shocked to see that there wasn't a set of balanced tension flats offered that I can find. I figured I could PM jason later on and he would help. He's been fantastic in all o my dealings with BSO. His website is the whole reson I'm fond of balanced sets to begin with.

and the most balanced set is actually 45/60/80/110, with these gauges the tension falls
into a 2.3lb window (45.7/45.5/43.7/46), vs. a 4.2lb window with the 45/60/80/105 set which is what I use on my jazz bass as I like the feel of a .105 e string, splitting hairs, but I don't know if I could get used to a .110 string

I found the 105 uncomfortable and went to a 100. The next set I get (if ever!) would be ECB84 at 40-60-80-100. I did not notice much change in tension or tone dropping down a gauge but it is definitely more comfortable to me. I'm a noob so YMMV...

OT: I lived in kerky from 90 to 94, some of best, worst and craziest years of my life, I was in my early 20's so I guess that's a given, hope to visit again someday, still the best weather of any place I've lived.

I sold a bass few years ago that had the old polished chromes I forgot to remove,
bought a new set, there no longer polished I sure would like to get a set of the polished
chromes if anyone might any ideas I'm all ears,I might try a set of these webstrings!
