Question about defretting a bass

As others have said, start with a cheap bass, then move onto the more expensive one. I just defretted the neck on my P project and it turned out great!! I use that bass every day at school, have played the national anthem in front of the entire school at an assembly, and I would not hesitate to use it at any gig that comes my way. My cheap (about $200 total) project fretless turned into my main bass pretty fast haha.

That was my second defret btw.

and there is a learning curve to playing fretless, it took me a while (3 rehearsals) to get used to having to place my fingers EXACTLY on the lines (or dots if you go without lines).
