I use a pick to play and I've heard that the SB2 gives off a lot of clang noise when using a pick because of the lack of tonal control on the bass. I haven't been able to play one because no store around me carries them, does anyone know if this is true about the SB-2? If so can I control the clang noise another way? I play in a band with a lot of fast picking and I hate listening to that clanging.

I have one and i dont think its that clangy ... its nothing like a ray or a rick!
The secret with a SB2 is not to put the volume all the way up, because the pickups are so hot you do get in really bright aggressive sound if you max it, but roll it off halfway and you get a decent P bass sound, not overly bright.
Not the dub, tone rolled off sound, but not the full on clang P sound either, just somewhere in the middle!
The jazz pickup is useless on its own but adds a bit of growl to the whole thing.
Dont be scared by the lack of tone knob, there is no need for it!

I'll agree with Carlos. Roll off and you can get the tones you want. I don't have a 'clanking' problem. If you don't want a bass that cuts the mix like a knife, don't get an SB-2.
