Question about mismatched Eden bass cabs...

I've got a 4 ohm 4x10 and an 8 ohm 1x15 with a wt800 head. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever had experience running them together, and what do I need to be concerned with if I do so. Do I need to run the crossover differently? The balance between the two cabs may be off i'm thinking. Any discussion would be helpful.

The balance will be off. Each of the 10" speakers will receive 1/6th of the power, while the 115 will be receiving 1/3rd of the power your amp puts out. As to what the combo sounds like, I don't have the experience to tell you. I won't give you the whole speech about driver mixing and the problems it causes, there are plenty of anti 410+115 threads out there.

skip the crossover, that won't do anything you want here.

if you gotta run them together because you're not loud enough otherwise, then the impedance imbalance is probably a good thing, it'll keep more power going to the more powerful and louder 4x10 cab instead of blowing the 15 trying to keep up. run into each side of that head it'll be like 400w into the 4x10 and 250-300w into the 15.

i guess it'll give you something if you're careful not to push the 15 too loud, but frankly i wouldn't bother; leave the 15 in the practice room so you don't have to lug the 4x10 in there between gigs.

That amp has two channels, is that what you meant by crossover?
Run full range to both cabs, if you have a cross over toss it.
You don't need to run it bridged, you can biampi a wt 800,
Run separate signals to each, no worries about matching, send less power to the 15 (about half )

800's are super flexible. I have an ebay alert setup for one. Or a QSC plx, whichever pops first in my range. Great amp, excellent cabinets.

I heartily endorse the older PLX, it makes a great bass power amp; the selectable filter is key, I set mine to 30Hz to keep things deep without risking the speakers.

Thanks for the link!!! My understanding is that the two amps can run separate with a balance between hi/low and the crossover setting the cutoff where the highs and lows get separated between the two cabs. I can probably get away with the 4x10 by itself, but i'm not getting the lows I want without overdriving the cab at the moment, which sounds awful and is probably really bad for the speakers! gotta back off when hittin the b string :/

Not necessarily. Since the WT-800 is a stereo amp, you can adjust the relative power between the two cabs if you run each one out of its own channel. Based on my experience running mixed Eden cabs (D210XLT and D-115XLT) I'd say the combination isn't going to sound as good as, say, two D-410XLTs, even with the outputs balanced.
