Question about speaker sensitivity

So you are looking at an amp for 6-string bass (includes the low B string), and the amp (apparently a combo) uses 12-inch speakers with relatively small magnets, 70w thermal power handling, a 92 db/w/m sensitivity, Qts of 0.87, no Xmax spec and Fs of 115Hz. There is really no chance of success... :-( If the amp and cab are decent, it could be worth replacing the stock drivers, but why not buy what is going to work to begin with?

Sorry, I meant a guitar amp, for guitar. In my haste I forgot about 6 string basses and baritone. My apologies for the confusion. I posted here because I trust opinions here more than abroad, and it's staggering how little forum guitarists know or care about this kind of stuff. Being that great bass tone is much more reliant on this kind of knowledge, it looks as though my hesitation to post in a guitar forum proved fruitful!

Thanks guys!

Gotcha! That driver has a guitar-friendly frequency response, and appropriate TS parameters. Hard to say how it sounds when pushed (re: cone breakup). Should be a decent driver for an open back cab. For a 112 cab, the sensitivity is low, but that could make it easier to get a nice overdriven tone. If this has a tube amplifier and is reasonably priced, it could be pretty tempting.

Congratulations guys! This is one of the first threads here dealing with acoustics that wasn’t all BS! Nearly everything here is correct

I don't think this is true at all. There have been many such discussions that have been pretty accurate.

Why would you want some POS from some chinese company ripping off someone else's designs and slapping something together when you could just get something good that would sound 10x better, last 10x as long and certainly not cost 10x as much? Oh and it will take 2 months to get it. It's bad enough that damn near everything is made there, without just going straight to something where every penny goes to exploiting workers. Go to the GC used site and you will wonder why you ever even bothered looking at this stuff. For 300 bucks or so, you can get something that might actually SOUND good and not break if you get a breeze from someone opening a door.

The combo I bought is from a fairly known company. It's just not their top of the line range so they sourced speakers for this combo from whatever manufacturer they wanted, for whatever reasons they had. I also bought it from GC, and found it online at the Sacramento store ;)

The premise of this post was not to chastise an overseas speaker manufacturer. It was simply to find a way to make a fair comparison to other well known speakers If I didn't like the stockers. I'm a bassist, not a guitarist. As such, I didn't find a need to spend more than I needed on this, it just needed to be good enough within my budget.:bassist:
