My Juzek has an Eb neck. And before that, my ply had an Eb neck. I have a La Scala on order and it has a D neck. I know there is going to be some adjustment, but I figure that I can get a feel for it by running scales, arps, and excerpts for a few weeks. One thing that I am wondering, though... Say you're playing an F# major scale, do you finger the F# (below the octave G) with the 3rd or 4th finger on a D neck? Normally, on my Juzek, I would finger it 2-4. Does the 1/2 difference in the neck joint change the fingering? Everything else should lay out pretty much the same.

The Eb - Db neck has nothing to do with fingerings or scale length. It only effects the "landmark" that the heel of the neck provides - it means the heel falls in a slightly different place along the vibrating string length.

Your fingering shouldn't change. For what it's worth at that postion on the G string, I would finger the last two notes of an F# major scale 2-4 - and the last two notes of a G major scale 2-3.

That is how I finger them now. I just thought that since the block was 1/2 step closer to the bridge, I might have to change my fingering 1/2 step earlier. It seems like I can use the same fingering in that area regardless of the neck. I guess it will make sense to me once I have the bass in my hands.
