I just bought one used 57 AV Precision bass 1982 made in Fullerton. This body has weird bump area (red marked) IS this kinda collectible shape ? or just one of error ? And I don't think this is original hardcase this this bass, but looks so old, too. I have seen some cases like this during 80s. When is the period on this case ? The embeded Fender logos are on Both side, Top and Bottom.
That weird shape you noticed is generally referred to as the 'router hump' and it's correct. Case is an '80s model. Had one like it back in the day. They're fine, just keep them away from heat, out of sun, etc. Let's see more pics of that '57!
Looks like a normal body to me. That case came stock with my '83 MIA Jazz as well as several '84-'87 MIJ Fenders I've owned. I think you're ok.
Just echoing the bump is supposed to be there and I have an '85 MIJ P-bass with that case. The case survived a few flights, but sort of warped I'm guessing to heat and doesn't make the best seal anymore.
JUst that looks like hand-error to me, LOL. I will show some more quickly in this post. THank you. ^^ oh. Mine's not only. Thanks, lowphat. Yep, the case look strong but always plastic case happens under heat. right... that's my favorite, too. My another 57's w. tweed.
My very first Fullerton era AV series in Vintage White finish. Neck's dated 11-11-82. 8K serial number w. 140K serial 57 P bass. Recently I m into Toilet bg, LOLOLOL.
OMG. I didn't check the bowl. LOL. What a shame if it's not :scowl: Yep, not now. LOL. That used to a restroom only for my doggy. Well, after he die 2 years ago we don't use it. only for guests. Thank you jbiscuti
Wow! daahoud, your '57 is only one day older than mine! (More pics in the Fender Fullerton Reissue club thread)
It's the best P I've ever played. Congratulations, BTW! The complete pics are behind this link, be sure to post yours too and join the club! http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/fender-fullerton-reissue-club-511899/index11.html#post12496399
Just a couple weeks ago. Bought it from the UK, it lives in Finland now Serial is 4K, so it's a much bigger difference than the neck date. But I've read somewhere that they just had a box of neck plates with serials and used them pretty randomly. There's also no knowing how long it might be between the neck dating and the completing of the bass.
