Question bout Fullerton 57 AV Precision bass Shape

I just bought one used 57 AV Precision bass 1982 made in Fullerton.

This body has weird bump area (red marked)
question_02.jpg

IS this kinda collectible shape ? or just one of error ? :hyper:

And I don't think this is original hardcase this this bass, but looks so old, too. I have seen some cases like this during 80s. When is the period on this case ?

The embeded Fender logos are on Both side, Top and Bottom.

Just echoing the bump is supposed to be there and I have an '85 MIJ P-bass with that case. The case survived a few flights, but sort of warped I'm guessing to heat and doesn't make the best seal anymore.

That weird shape you noticed is generally referred to as the 'router hump' and it's correct.

Let's see more pics of that '57!

JUst that looks like hand-error to me, LOL. I will show some more quickly in this post. THank you. ^^

Looks like a normal body to me. That case came stock with my '83 MIA Jazz as well as several '84-'87 MIJ Fenders I've owned. I think you're ok.
oh. Mine's not only. Thanks, lowphat.

Yep, the case look strong but always plastic case happens under heat. :)

The original case would have been a tweed one with thick orange shag interior.
right... that's my favorite, too. My another 57's w. tweed.

At least the bowl is clean for the picture shot...
OMG. I didn't check the bowl. LOL. What a shame if it's not :scowl:

those basses are clean , same with the toilet, nothing funky going on.
Yep, not now. LOL. That used to a restroom only for my doggy. Well, after he die 2 years ago we don't use it. only for guests.

My Fullerton Jazz had that router hump too. Totally correct.

Beautiful bass BTW!
Thank you jbiscuti

Wow. great. When did u get it?

Just a couple weeks ago. Bought it from the UK, it lives in Finland now :) Serial is 4K, so it's a much bigger difference than the neck date. But I've read somewhere that they just had a box of neck plates with serials and used them pretty randomly. There's also no knowing how long it might be between the neck dating and the completing of the bass.
