Question Concerning the Limited Ed. Affinity Series Active Jazz Bass

For those of you with this model, does your E string sound weaker than the A, D & G strings? I've tried 2 sets of strings with the same result.

It seems like my E string isn't getting the same level of Zeus Juice as the other 3 strings. The output is noticeably weaker. It's kind of a PITA to Bash the E while playing the other strings more softly. Any solutions?

1. The battery is a fresh EverReady 9V and not some el-cheapo no name from china. I tossed the one that came with the bass.
2. The pickups are staggered. The pole pieces for the A & D strings are raised on both neck & bridge pickups. HOWEVER, the G string does not have a volume problem. Only the E string has the volume discrepancy.

Never mind. I think I have it mostly figured out.

I ended up raising the action on the "loud" strings. Just a few turns on the bridge saddle screws made a big difference. This "active" bass has much more oomph than my passive basses. I tried tilting the pickups with the bass side being higher, but I got the fake chorus effect due to the brutal strength of the magnets in these ceramic noiseless pickups.
