Could you peel back the carpet and file down an extra 1/4 inch in the top of the slot? You might be able to slide the head back in with the plate still on.
Actually, this wouldnt need to be done. The rectangular black panels that sit on top of the combo head, on either side could be taken off. This would make room to put a new black panel over the whole thing. If the new full size panel was the same thickness as the smaller black panels, then the head would fit into the combo without having to file or peel away anything. Basskopf, If you felt the need to have your head fit into your Jeff Berlin, you could make a new panel to fit where I suggested. This is what I'm going to do when the time comes to use the head outside of the combo. This will also allow me to use my CMD121P as originally designed, with the head in it's compartment.
