Question for Warwick Players

I own an FNA Jazzman 5 string, which I love a great deal. The sound is superb, and the playability is great.

My question is about the neck on it. Does anyone know if you can apply a finish to the neck? I wax it regularly, and I don't have a problem with doing so- I just wanted to hear if anyone had any examples of if someone added any type of finish over it.

Thanks!

That's pretty interesting because I personally found it gets almost abrasive if I don't wax it once in a while when I've played it (though it's already established on the official Warwick thread that mine's weird anyway...maple neck and fretboard :smug:). Though I have always had comments from musician mates as to how smooth the neck is when I do give it some TLC. So I always thought the waxing was a tad necessary.

So basically not waxing it at all is another way? Sure sounds better than €13 a pop [no pun intended] Warwick wax....

My Streamer Stage One's obviously don't need wax on any part of them, being oil finished.

But I've never touched the necks of the other Warwicks I've had with wax. The most I've ever done is use a little lemon oil to clean them, but even that is very rarely.

Here's the thing about finishing a neck on a Warwick, wax was applied at the factory and it worked it's way into the pores of the wood. If you don't get ALL the wax off the neck, it will affect the finish. Depending on what finish you apply, it may not dry or adhere properly.
