question... need help regarding amp and speaker

howdy there,

im pretty new at this so ill jus cut straight to the point

i scored an old yamaha s115iv speaker and an emx 860 st powered mixer off my old boy ....
something is not working and im pretty sure its the mixer
any way my question is does any one know if this gear would sound allright to play throu or should i be buying myself some more specific gear ... im pretty new to playing , iv got an ibanez srx350 and as you can probly tell know absolutley nothing about amps or pa ... cheers in advance for the help.

Sure - a Yamaha S115iv speaker and emx 860st powered mixer would sound good for bass - it would sound better than a lot of smaller bass amps.

It would be a good idea to test these with another amp and speaker that are known to be working - so you can tell which one has a problem.
