question on dano pickups

hey guys!
I've been on the forum a while, but its my first post here!
the question is:
I have a '77 musicmaster frankenstein bass whose pickup has been replaced with a P style fender pickup close by the neck position and a dano pickup where the strat style was.
now, I basicaly like where the sound is headed, but I am changing the pups!
since i have a huge discount on duncans and happen to like them, I decided to get an SPB-2 to replace the fender P, but I wonder should i keep the dano or what?
can I just have it rewound or what?
considering i have no clue about these pups!

any help is welcome!

thanks, I saw those pickups!
I think Id rather keep this ojne on because its a vintage so I gues i would just have someone wind it again!If theyre winded like regular pickups?
the tone Im going for is a beefy vintage-y tone, but I would like some clarity!would the dano prove to be an issue here?i can always just remove the whole thing!

I'm not sure I understand why you would need a rewinding. Lipsticks are put together in such a way as you'd have to destroy them to take them apart. Nothing should degrade in the wire wrapping. The magnet may lose some strength over the years, but these were never very hot in the first place - 4.7K ohms I believe. There are machines that will re magnetize and reverse polarities, if this is an issue.

I like the sound of a lipstick pickup for bass but YMMV.
